Stay Golden - SF STYLE

I don't know how much I can say this but damn. I love San Francisco.

The only thing is- its not the most fashion forward city like NYC. Though, not all hope is lost!

This post is all about taking your most basic pieces and creating a chic and stylish outfit that leaves you ready to conquer the steep hills and brace against "Karl" (the fog).

1. DENIM
A staple I love having is these wedgie 501's from Levi's. Considering that Levi's originated in SF, it makes sense to have them right? Not only that but they're super comfortable and casual enough for SF. Dress them up with some booties or sneakers and pair them with a silky camisole.

2. BLAZERS

If you know me, I love me a smart casual look. In SF, when you're going to work, the chances of you finding a woman in a full suit is practically non-existent. My go to business casual look in the city is black skinny jeans and any chic blazer that I can find! Best part? It'll keep you warm when the fog rolls in and it gets windy.

3. TRENCH COATS

I absolutely love trench coats! Especially this drapey trench coat from Abercrombie, it's perfect for any season because of its neutral color and timeless style. Over the summer when it's warmer out, I like to pair it with a dress or a jeans and t-shirt outfit. In the winter, if I'm not wearing a long sleeve under, I'll usually pair it with a hoodie and jeans with some white sneakers for a trendy street style look. This way, you're still casual enough for SF but you're also up-ing your style game!

4. SIMPLE PANTS

Pants? Isn't that the same thing as jeans essentially?

NOPE.

Another staple I love having for my SF wardrobe are pants! The thing I love about having actual pants whether they're tailored or the classic Brandy Melville pants is that they give you a completely different tailored look. You can still be comfortable and style it the same as jeans but you will look much more sophisticated.

5. STATEMENT TOPS.

If you're not wearing stilettos or dress pants, you'll want something to contrast your outfit to make it stylish. Taking a simple bottom like these jeans and pairing it with a unique top will change the entire dynamic of your outfit. Not only will it look like you put in more effort, but it will make it easier for you to go from a day to night look without having to wonder if you need to go home and change out of your t-shirt to go out to the bars.

6. Flowy Pants & Denim Jackets

Okay, I'm probably cheating here by throwing in another pair of pants but I kid you not these are a total essential! Flowy pants are very different from regular pants because it wont just give you a relaxed and comfortable look, it's just automatically effortless and sophisticated. Pair it with any basic top for a universal outfit or with a t-shirt for a casual and laid back look.

I also wanted to add a denim jacket in this because they're just a staple that can never go wrong. Not only does it go with everything but its great to layer over a hoodie when it gets chilly out.

7. PATAGONIA

If you're truly from the Bay Area, you'll know that your right of passage into SF will be a "Pata-Gucci". I kid you not, everyone and their mother owns a Patagonia and I don't blame them! SF gets freezing cold during the fall and winter seasons and Patagonia does a great job of keeping you warm. Not only that but for some reason it matches the SF aesthetic very well. Do I know exactly how this trend blew up in San Francisco? Not sure. But I'm here for it & an avid Patagonia hoarder.

Also I think its hilarious how in New York, it's so rare to spot a Patagonia because all you see is Canada Goose and then you turn around to San Francisco and it's the problem of finding someone who's not wearing one!

I hope you got some inspiration from this & enjoyed!

XO, Fiona
