Hong Kong

One of my favorite cities in the world. This is my second time back in Hong Kong and although it was short, it felt like I was there for so much longer! The feeling I experienced walking through the streets of Hong Kong was something of exhilaration, excitement, and wonder. What always captures me the most when I'm in this magnificent city is the culture and the architecture that lies in front of the surrounding mountains of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is perfect for experiencing the hustle and bustle of street market vendors to seeing big banks and businesses in action. Here are some of my favorite spots in Central Hong Kong:

- Lan Kwai Fong: if you're there to party, and if you're there to do some major night market shopping this is the place for you! Known as probably one of the liveliest streets of Hong Kong at night, it'll be filled with never-ending* nightlife experiences.

- Yak Sing: if you love noodles, cheap food, and great roast goose, this is the spot for you! This is my favorite spot for their noodles and iced lemon tea! I'm craving it as I'm writing about it! The perk about this spot too is that it’s so close to what I'd consider being "downtown" Hong Kong where all the shopping is (also duty-free ;) )!

- Stairs of Hong Kong: ok so this isn't actually a specific spot in Hong Kong but they are everywhere! The little alleyways are worth exploring in HK because there are so many hidden gems whether it'd be small vendors, food, or just some stairs ready to be Instagrammed! But surely don't creep into any creepy alleys...

- Kam's Roast Goose: Michelin star dinner? It doesn't cost five billion dollars? SIGN ME UP! Every dish at this place exceeded my expectations and was absolutely delicious. I can't even express it, just try it!

- Tim Ho Wan: This may be tricky to find, but they have some pretty good dim sum which is a MUST HAVE when you're in Hong Kong! The location I went to was at the IFC mall and you will find this downstairs once you walk into the mall/train station. You won’t miss it, it always has a super packed line!

- Victoria Harbour: every night at around 8 pm there is a light show that plays along with the buildings of Central Hong Kong and it is absolutely lively and magnificent. This is probably one of my favorite things to do when I'm in Hong Kong because the atmosphere is just so lively and fun with so much to see and do.

- Ozone: go up to the 118th floor of the Ritz Carlton Hotel and take in one of the most breathtaking views you could experience. Have some drinks, have some food, and enjoy the view! Dress code required.

- Big Buddha: so I didn't have the chance to revisit this spot, but the last time I was in Hong Kong it was definitely a favorite. To really immerse yourself in the culture, you can take a tram up to the mountains of HK to visit this huge Buddha statue and just experience so much of what HK's culture is. Climb up 500 steps of stairs to not only see a magnificent view but also gain more insight into how Buddhism is practiced.* (this is in no way to promote religion, just to share insight.)

I hope this all gets you started on your future visits to Hong Kong! xx
